Mentored Communities
Since writing Earn It with MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski I’ve talked to dozens of young women who struggled getting to the next steps of their career. Through my conversations and focus groups, three areas of their career experience called for extra support: Getting unstuck, networking more effectively, and advocating better on the job.
Being part of the live acceso communities will give you access to learn from senior professionals from all different industries. You’ll have guided discussions, takeaways, exercises and video tools curated by me to aid in each bi-weekly session with a designed group intended for you to build community with.
I wanted to create a curated personalized platform where women could learn from other women going through similar experiences, get advice from working professionals and assess feedback in a group setting. Often, it’s the feeling of being alone in our struggles that make it harder for us to reach our full potential.
Choose what mini-communities you would like to join:
1. Getting access to new opportunities & networking effectively
This is for anyone who needs help getting their foot in the door, having a hard time leveraging their networks or is on the job hunt (but has clarity on the role/industry they want). In each 'mini community' you'll be networking by default, but this group will explore specifics to the tactical side on how to grow your network (finding ways to get access, sending cold-emails, proper way to approach, learning to have effective informationals, where to start, etc).
2. Career transitions / getting unstuck
If you feel like you are hitting a wall at work and are thinking about switching careers or companies this mini community is for you. Perhaps you’re having trouble figuring out your next step, or feel lost on what to do next. Ideally you start in this group, find clarity on what you want to do and then graduate to the group above or group below.
Note: You might start in this group by feeling like you’re ‘stuck’ at work but you might find out it’s because you are having a hard time being heard, dealing with a difficult boss, etc. That is a separate group (see below).
3. Asserting yourself on the job
The focus of this group is for professionals who are already in the career fields they want, but are having trouble asserting themselves on the job or have trouble navigating issues in their current role (whether it's not being able to effectively articulate ideas, feel like you're not being heard, or simply need help on how to navigate moving up, getting raises etc). This is also the right group for someone who isn’t looking to find another job or is on the job hunt but rather wants to know how they can grow in their role or learn how to deal with a tough boss or ‘the imposter syndrome’. It’s a virtual space where you can vent about your day and that ‘meeting that went terribly wrong.’ Basically, it’s everything that covers ‘being on the job.’
